The Law on Securities 2019 seeks to establish a single centralized Vietnam Stock Exchange (“VSE”) with the aim to merge the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange and the Hanoi Stock Exchange. This is probably the most striking element of the new law, which nonetheless includes several new provisions, including prohibitions, sanctions and an enhanced role for securities advisers. With Vietnam set to attract more traditional investments in manufacturing and increase its trade levels with other Countries, more opportunities for both local and foreign financial investors open up.
