On the Occasion of the 52nd National Day of the Republic of Singapore, the Singapore Business Group Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam (SBG) was honoured to organise The 52nd Singapore National Day Networking Reception on Wednesday, 9th August 2017 at the prestigious hotel – The Reverie Saigon.
It was a chance for the Singaporean community in Vietnam to unite, mingle and enjoy the live streaming of the National Day Parade via CNA as well as entertainment activities during this significant day.
The event was a big success with attendance of almost 450 people including SBG members, Singaporeans living in Vietnam, as well as many people of different nationalities joining this event to commemorate the Singapore’s independence from Malaysia in the year 1965.
At this National Day reception, SBG was honoured to welcome the representatives of Consulate-General of The Republic of Singapore in Ho Chi Minh City: Ms. Haliza Begum (Consul) and Mr. Alvin Tay (Attaché), and chairpersons of other foreign chambers of commerce in Vietnam.
The event commenced at 5PM with the live stream of the National Day Parade 2017 organised at the Marina Bay floating platform, Singapore with the theme “#OneNationTogether”. This year’s theme of the NDP is a rallying call to unite all Singaporeans. ‘One Nation’ is to remind Singaporeans that regardless of origin and background, we belong as one people and one nation. It encourages Singaporeans to harness our diversity and to leave no one behind as we strive towards an even brighter future. ‘Together’ emphasizes the importance of unity in times of uncertainty and challenges ahead and represents a call-to-action for all Singaporeans to overcome the odds together.
Prior to the event opening remark of Mr Norman Lim, SBG President, all participants stood at attention and salute the flags when the National Anthem of Vietnam and Singapore were played. Then, all Singaporeans in the ballroom together recited the Singapore National Pledge.
During the evening, the attendees enjoyed complimentary drink and buffet and mingled with family, friends, and the Singaporean community in Vietnam.
After the NDP 2017 came to end, the attendees were more excited with the exclusive lucky draw that SBG prepared for all of its valued guests. Many valuable prizes were sponsored for the event by generous partners of SBG.
