As Vietnam accelerates its green transition and restructures its growth model, developing a national green finance taxonomy is no longer optional, it is an essential foundation to unlock sustainable capital flows, enhance transparency, and establish a unified standard for the entire market. A well-designed taxonomy will strengthen investor confidence, guide capital toward priority areas, and support Vietnam’s deeper integration into global sustainable finance.

To contribute to this strategic process, the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and Singapore Management University (SMU) are co-organizing the conference “Developing and Implementing Green Finance Taxonomies: International Experiences and Opportunities for Vietnam.” The event brings together leading experts to present advanced global taxonomies, discuss their applicability in Vietnam, and explore practical pathways for aligning domestic frameworks with international standards.

A highlight of the event is the first-ever introduction in Vietnam of the Global Taxonomy Mapper, a collaborative research initiative between SMU and top universities including Dublin City University, the University of Edinburgh, and the UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School. The project aims to bridge taxonomies worldwide, enhance cross-border compatibility, and ultimately facilitate the flow of green capital across markets, an essential factor for Vietnam’s sustainable finance ambitions.
