8 Jan 2015 –In order to update members about the latest key changes of labor and employment regulations in Vietnam in 2015 and upcoming years, SBG organized “Labor Law Updates – HR Challenges for Businesses in 2015”. This was held at Sheraton Saigon Hotel & Towers and garnered more than 70 guests, mostly lawyers and HR professionals, from the business chambers of Singapore, Britain, France, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Taiwan.

8 Jan 2015 –In order to update members about the latest key changes of labor and employment regulations in Vietnam in 2015 and upcoming years, SBG organized “Labor Law Updates – HR Challenges for Businesses in 2015”. This was held at Sheraton Saigon Hotel & Towers and garnered more than 70 guests, mostly lawyers and HR professionals, from the business chambers of Singapore, Britain, France, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Taiwan.

The update was the presentation by Ms. Nguyen Thuy Hang, Partner from Baker & McKenzie, updating the audience about the following topics:

– Amended Law on Health Insurance and Its Guiding Documents (Decree No. 105/2014/ND-CP) which took effect on 01 Jan 2015.

– New Law on Social Insurance taking effect on 01 Jan 2016, which will create a considerable increase in labor costs for employers and in return provide more benefits to employees.

– New Law on Employment taking effect on 01 Jan 2015 provides regulations on Job creation support, Employment market information, National professional skill certificates, Employment services and Unemployment insurance.

– New regional minimum wages:

– Updates on conditions for work permit exemption and upcoming employment legislation

After the comprehensive thirty-minute presentation, Ms. Nguyen Thuy Hang then joined a forum discussion with Mr. Jeffery Lee from A8 Resource and Mr. Kazuya Tomari from JAC Recruitment, discussing the topic “HR Challenges for Businesses in 2015” with the labor conditions in Vietnam and the recent key changes in labor law.

The forty-five minute discussion focused on several aspects of labor law and HR, including Procedures of Recruiting Foreigners, Work Permit restrictions, cost of HR capital in Vietnam and humanizing HR.

A guest from EuroCham remarked that she found the forum discussion interesting and informative as the three panelists from Japan, Singapore and Vietnam, presented very different views on various topics of HR Challenges in Vietnam in upcoming years.
